About Johnson Rays

Born Akinniyi Oluwaseun Johnson in Lagos State, Nigeria, Johnson Rays embarked on his musical journey approximately 25 years ago as a dedicated church choir member. It was during this time that his love for music began to blossom. Influenced heavily by the sounds of Kirk Franklin, he started experimenting with rap writing and singing, making his mark with a memorable freestyle during a choir ministration.

Johnson Rays’ musical palette expanded significantly as he delved into Afro/Highlife music, initially finding inspiration within a musical band where Afro Gospel and Highlife were the focus. However, a serendipitous encounter with a friend who was immersed in reggae music opened up a new world of possibilities, shaping the multifaceted artist we know today.
